I love making bags. I love the process of design and the hands-on craft of cutting and sewing. I love the chatter of sewing machines, and the patterns, colors and textures of fabric. I love the interaction with people seeking the "perfect bag," and the drama of customizing a bag right before your very eyes. Of all the things I've done in my professional career, this is my absolute favorite. Making bags is what I do -- it's my passion. I started Rickshaw to pursue my passion and share it with others. Rickshaw is now a small team of people with a shared passion for delighting customers with special bags and personal service.

Inside each bag you'll find a small tag with our special heart symbol -- a little secret we call our "PCQ Tatoo" -- representing three things that are near and dear to us here at Rickshaw: Passion, Craft and Quality. The PCQ Tatoo evolved from a sketch I made in my notebook during an exploration of words and symbols to express the essential characteristics of my new venture. The tatoo concept seemed appropriate, since it too is a needle artform. The heart represents our passion for bags, bicycles and the beautiful city of San Francisco. The silver needle and gold thread represent the craft of making bags by hand. And the five stars symbolize our commitment to quality products and friendly service.

The five stars also honor our key stakeholders -- employees, customers, business partners, investors and community -- and our commitment to treat each with respect and compassion.

This little graphic memento is our way of saying, "Our heart's in every bag."
